# Magic Suggestions — context-aware insight prompts

## The best question to ask, suggested for you

Sometimes the hardest part is knowing what to ask. **Magic Suggestions** solve that: Chief looks at [the files, topics, and references in your prompt](/help/the-prompt-bar-scope/setting-the-scope-of-a-chat-using-files-labels-collections-concepts) and suggests sharp, ready-to-run questions — the kind an expert would ask about your data. Each suggestion is one click away from being your next prompt.

Suggestions are **context-aware**. They're generated from what's actually in scope — the documents, labels, and topics you've referenced — so they're specific to your material, not generic prompts.

## How Magic Suggestions are framed

Each suggestion is attributed two ways so you know where it's coming from:

* An [**Expert Voice**](/help/expert-voices/what-are-expert-voices) — shown as "\[expert] might ask…", so the question reflects a specific point of view.
* An **insight category** — a small labeled icon such as Risk Assessment, Root Cause, Comparative Analysis, Blind Spots, or Next Steps, telling you what kind of thinking the question applies.

## Use a Magic Suggestion

1. Reference the material you want insight on — add files, a [label](/help/labels/tagging-files-filtering-by-label), or a topic to your prompt, or open a project that has them.
2. Click the **sparkles** control in the [prompt bar](/help/the-prompt-bar-scope/the-prompt-bar-a-tour-of-your-chat-controls) (**View magic suggestions**).
3. Browse the suggestions; each shows the Expert Voice and insight category behind it.
4. Click a suggestion to drop it into the prompt bar, or use **Ask this expert question** to send it.
5. Edit the text first if you want to adjust it, then send.

  🚀 **Pro-Tip:** Magic Suggestions are at their best when you've added real material to scope. The more specific the files and topics in your prompt, the sharper and more useful the suggested questions.

    Suggestions are generated from the material in scope. If nothing relevant is referenced yet, add a file, label, or topic and open the suggestions again. They surface on the home prompt bar rather than mid-conversation on a chat page.

    Yes. Clicking a suggestion places it in the prompt bar so you can tweak the wording before you send, or send it as-is.
