# Google Calendar (read, create, RSVP)

> Google Calendar runs on your Google connection.

## Connect Google Calendar

Google Calendar runs on your [Google connection](/help/integrations/integrations-overview). Once Google is connected, Chief can read your calendars and events, create and update events, move and delete them, and send RSVPs — from a chat.

## Connect from a chat

1. [Ask Chief](/help/chatting-with-chief/how-chats-work) something calendar-related, for example "what's on my calendar tomorrow?"
2. If Google isn't connected, a **Connect Google** card appears. Click **Connect Google**.
3. If you're signed out, a sign-up window opens first; complete it and the connection resumes.
4. Approve the access on Google's consent screen.
5. Google returns you to Chief and the request continues.

<Warning>
  ⚠️ **Important:** If you connected Google [for email](/help/integrations/gmail-read-search-draft-send-label-archive) earlier but calendar still doesn't work, Chief shows "Reconnect Google to grant Calendar access." Click **Connect Google** again and approve the calendar permission.
</Warning>

## What Chief can do once connected

* **Read** — list your calendars (including your primary calendar) and show events, attendees, and all-day events.
* **Create** — create an event, optionally adding a Google Meet link and notifying attendees.
* **Update & move** — change event details or move an event to another calendar.
* **Delete** — remove an event.
* **RSVP** — respond to an invite as **Yes, attending**, **No, not attending**, or **Maybe**.

## Approving actions

Calendar changes show a confirmation card first — for example **Create this event?**, **Update this event?**, **Move this event?**, **Delete this event?**, or **Send this RSVP?** — with the event details, a **Notify attendees** option where relevant, and an **Approve** button. You can let **Create & edit events** [run without asking each time](/help/integrations/managing-integration-permissions-connection-status) from the tools panel.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My calendar request returned a "Connect Google" card even though email already works.">
    Your Google connection has email access but not calendar access — [a common cause of integration trouble](/help/troubleshooting/an-integration-disconnected-or-wont-sync). Click **Connect Google** on the card and approve the calendar permission to add it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Will attendees get notified when Chief changes an event?">
    Only if you choose to. The confirmation card includes a **Notify attendees** toggle so you control whether invitees are emailed about the change.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can Chief add a video link to a new meeting?">
    Yes. When creating an event you can have Chief add a Google Meet link; the confirmation card shows "Google Meet will be added" before you approve.
