# Copying, downloading & sharing transcripts

> A Live Session shows the full Transcript on its page, with speaker labels and timecodes.

## What's available today

A [Live Session](/help/meetings-live-sessions/what-are-live-sessions) shows the full **Transcript** on its page, with [speaker labels and timecodes](/help/meetings-live-sessions/how-transcription-works-speaker-attribution). The transcript panel has its own **Copy transcript** and **Download transcript** buttons, each with format options. There's no **Share** button on the transcript yet — that option is in the text-selection menu but is marked "Coming soon." The actions on the session itself are **Edit** (rename) and **Delete**.

<Warning>
  ⚠️ **Important:** The **Download the app** button on the Live Sessions page [downloads the Chief desktop app](/help/meetings-live-sessions/installing-the-chief-desktop-app-mac-required-for-capture) — it does not download a transcript.
</Warning>

## Copy or download transcript text

At the top of the **Transcript** panel, click **Copy transcript** to [copy it as Markdown or rich text](/help/creating-exporting/copying-responses-as-rich-text-or-markdown), or **Download transcript** to [save it as Markdown, plain text, or a Doc file](/help/creating-exporting/downloading-responses-pdf-docx-xlsx-csv-markdown-text-tables). You can also select the text on the page and copy it with your browser (**Cmd-C** on Mac) — the transcript is plain on-page text, so a normal selection works too.

## Work with the meeting in a chat

Besides copying or downloading the transcript, you can also [**Start chat**](/help/meetings-live-sessions/starting-a-chat-from-a-meeting) from the session. Chief then answers from the transcript and can draft a recap, an email, or a summary you can paste wherever you need it — keeping the meeting's content in Chief.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Where's the Download or Share button for a transcript?">
    The **Copy transcript** and **Download transcript** buttons are at the top of the Transcript panel, each with a choice of formats. There's no dedicated **Share** button yet — that option lives in the text-selection menu but is marked "Coming soon."
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I share a session with a teammate by link?">
    There's no dedicated transcript share control, but you don't need one — every member of [the project](/help/projects-sharing-teams/what-is-a-project) can already see the session automatically.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I copied the transcript but lost the speaker labels. Why?">
    A plain selection copies the visible text; how speaker chips and timecodes come across depends on your browser. For a clean recap, ask Chief in a chat started from the session.
