# Sharing screen context in the Live Sessions App

> Choose which open apps Chief may note during a Live Session so your transcript and summary retain useful screen context.

Share screen context when references such as “this page” or “that PR” need meaning in your [Live Session](/help/meetings-live-sessions/what-are-live-sessions). Chief records context only from the apps you choose; it does not turn on a general screen recording.

## Turn on screen context

1. [Start a Live Session](/help/meetings-live-sessions/starting-a-live-session) as the host.
2. Click the **Share screen context** screen icon in the session controls.
3. Turn on **Share screen context**.
4. Under **Apps Chief may see**, select each running app you want Chief to use. Click **All** to select every listed app or **None** to clear the list.

Your app choices are remembered on that device. The screen icon turns green while context sharing is active.

  **Good to Know:** Screen context is separate from [adding screenshots to the transcript](/help/meetings-live-sessions/adding-screenshots-images-to-a-transcript). It notes app activity and, with optional permission, window titles or pages. Use a screenshot when the exact visual matters.

## Include window titles and pages

Without macOS Accessibility permission, Chief can note the selected app names. To add window titles and page information:

1. Open **Share screen context**.
2. Click **Grant** beside the Accessibility message.
3. Approve the request in macOS.

The app shows **Waiting…** while macOS waits for your decision. Accessibility access is optional; microphone and system-audio permissions remain the ones required for [meeting transcription](/help/meetings-live-sessions/how-transcription-works-speaker-attribution).

## Review or remove captured context

Open **Share screen context** and look under **Captured this session**. Chief groups captured events by app and shows the event count. Click **Remove** beside an app to remove its captured events from the session.

Captured context follows its time in the session. It is included alongside transcript text and images when you [send the Live Session to an AI agent](/help/meetings-live-sessions/sending-a-live-session-to-an-ai-agent).

## FAQ

  <Accordion title="Does Chief see every app on my screen?">
    No. Chief records events only from apps you select under **Apps Chief may see**. If no running apps appear, close and reopen the control after starting the apps you want to select.

  <Accordion title="Do participants and watchers share their screen context too?">
    No. Screen context is a host-only control. A watcher contributes nothing to the recording, and another participant's device does not inherit your app selections.

  <Accordion title="Why does Chief show only an app name?">
    Grant the optional macOS Accessibility permission if you want Chief to include window titles and pages. Without it, selected app names still provide limited context.
