# Organization Memory — shared across all projects

> Organization Memory is a shared set of facts and context that Chief reuses across every Project in your Organization.

**Organization Memory** is a shared set of facts and context that Chief reuses across every [Project](/help/projects-sharing-teams/what-is-a-project) in your Organization. [Memory](/help/memories/what-are-memories) helps Chief personalize its responses; storing something at the Organization level means you don't have to repeat it Project by Project.

## Where Organization Memory lives

1. Open the account menu (your avatar) and choose [**Organization**](/help/organization-administration/organization-settings-overview), then select **Memory** in the left-hand navigation.
2. The **Organization Memory** section appears. If you haven't added anything yet, it shows "No organization memories yet."

## Turn collection on and add memories

1. Use the **Enable organization memory** toggle to let Chief [collect organization-level memories from conversations](/help/memories/letting-chief-auto-capture-memories-from-chats).
2. To add one yourself, select **Add Memory**, type the entry, and save it. You'll see "Memory saved." (You can also [bring entries in with **Import**](/help/memories/importing-memories-from-text).)
3. To manage existing entries, use the controls on each memory: [**Archive**](/help/memories/pinning-archiving-restoring-memories) to set one aside (you can restore it later), or **Delete** to remove it permanently.

  ℹ️ **Good to Know:** Chief keeps memory at [three levels](/help/memories/personal-vs-project-vs-organization-memories) — your personal memories, per-Project memories, and Organization Memory. Organization Memory is the broadest: it applies everywhere in the Organization, so use it for facts that are true company-wide.

## Keeping memory healthy

Over time, memories can go stale. The Memory area [flags entries that need attention](/help/memories/memory-health-keeping-your-context-fresh) (for example marked **Stale**, **Fading**, or **Dormant**) so you can archive or delete what's no longer accurate. You can also [compress several related memories](/help/memories/compressing-memories-to-reduce-clutter) into one concise entry.

## Frequently asked questions

    No. Disabling collection only stops Chief from adding new memories automatically. Existing memories remain available and you can still view, archive, or delete them.

  <Accordion title="Who can edit Organization Memory?">
    Organization settings, including Memory, are owner-only. If you're not an organization owner, you won't be able to open that page; ask an owner to make changes.

  <Accordion title="Should I put a fact in Organization Memory or a Project memory?">
    Use Organization Memory for things true across the whole company. Use a Project memory when the fact only matters inside one Project, so it doesn't influence unrelated work.
