Changing appearance, controls, zoom & shortcuts

You can choose how the macOS Live Sessions App looks, where its session controls appear, and how much they show. The app saves these choices and its zoom level for future launches.

Change the Live Sessions App appearance

Use either of these paths in the macOS app:

• Press Cmd-, or open Chief › Settings…. Under Appearance, choose Auto, Light, or Dark, then click Done.
• Open View › Appearance, then choose Auto (System), Light, or Dark.

Auto follows your Mac’s current system appearance. Your choice also applies to the app’s automatic meeting prompt. Under Appearance, use Text size to choose Small, Default, or Large without changing the zoom level.

Place and manage the Live Session controls

Open Chief › Settings… and stay on General. Under Live sessions, use Live Session controls to choose Top of screen or Floating. On macOS, you can also drag the top-of-screen control down to turn it into the floating bar, or drag the bar to the top center of the screen to put it back. Chief remembers the placement after a restart. Under Suggestions, Let Chief suggest things during a call is on by default. While it is on, Chief can offer work, check decisions against your code, and research what comes up without being asked. These background passes use credits while the call runs. Their results collect in Activity: answers and ideas under Insights, and offers, chats, and runs under Work. A Live Insight can appear before Chief finishes checking it. Chief updates the same card as evidence arrives and can add later findings there. Its provenance can move through Preliminary · checking… or Sources found · checking…, Checked, Corrected, or Couldn’t verify; an answer that was not checked can read General knowledge · not checked. Manage Floating Control separately controls how this device shows suggestions and the session controls:

• Full shows suggestions as they arrive. An insight appears as a card, then folds to one line.
• Minimal keeps the controls compact and shows a gold count for waiting offers. Click the count to read one.
• Hidden hides the session controls, while meeting prompts, joinable-session hints, the file-drop target, and suggestions in Activity remain available.

To recover the controls from Hidden, click the Chief icon in the macOS menu bar and choose Show session controls, or return to Settings and select Full. In an offer, Not now sets it aside and adds it to the gold count; use the card’s ⋯ menu and Decline this suggestion to decline it instead.

Zoom the Live Sessions App display

Open View in the macOS menu bar and choose:

• Zoom In to make the full app interface larger.
• Zoom Out to fit more information on screen.
• Reset Zoom to return to the default size.

You can also use these keyboard shortcuts:

• Cmd-+ or Cmd-= — zoom in.
• Cmd— — zoom out.
• Cmd-0 — reset zoom.

The app changes zoom in 10% steps, supports 50% through 300%, and remembers the selected level after you close it. Zoom changes the app’s display only; it does not change transcript exports or the display of a watcher’s browser view.

Customize session shortcuts

Open Settings with Cmd-, on Mac, then choose Shortcuts. Select an action and press the key combination you want when Press keys… appears. Session shortcuts work anywhere on your Mac or PC while a session is running. You can assign shortcuts for Screenshot straight to transcript, Screenshot & mark up, Upload image & mark up, Upload image & mark up (alternate key), New sketch, Pause / resume session, Stop session, and Show Chief window. Chief warns if another action in Chief or another app already uses the shortcut.
