Find something in a meeting

A Live Session has two search paths: use Find in session for exact words, or ask Chief about the meeting in a task to search by meaning.

  1. Open Live Sessions and open the session you want.
  2. Click Find in session in the session header, or press Cmd-F on Mac or Ctrl-F on Windows.
  3. Type the words you want. Press Enter or Shift-Enter to move between matches, and Esc to close the find bar.
Chief searches the transcript and the rendered Live notes and Activity content. A match in a hidden web-app tab brings that tab forward, and collapsed transcript or summary content opens while the query runs.
Tip: Each transcript turn is timecoded and labeled by speaker, so you can also scan the Transcript panel directly.

Ask Chief about the meeting

The better way to “search” a meeting is to ask about it. When you start a task from a Live Session, the session rides along as context, so Chief answers from the transcript and the items it extracted:
  1. Open the session and click a point in Live notes.
  2. Use Ask about this…, a quick action, or Start a task with this Live Session.
  3. Ask things like “What did we decide about pricing?” or “Find where the launch date was discussed.”
Because the meeting is in the task’s scope, you can search by meaning, not just exact words.

Click Find in session, or press Cmd-F on Mac or Ctrl-F on Windows. For meaning-based questions, start a task from the session and ask Chief.
If the meeting captured little or no audio, there’s little transcript to search. Confirm the session actually has a transcript (it won’t say “No transcript yet”), and make sure you started the task from that session so the meeting is in scope.
