Share a whole Live Session with Reader or Collaborator access, share one panel or workspace section with a Reader link, or copy a members-only link to a specific Activity item. Readers open shared content in a browser. Collaborators can also add captures, edit shared documents, and comment. Chief Live Sessions - sharing a session with a participant or watcher
  1. While recording, click Share in the floating control, choose Share from the Session actions (…) menu beside the session name, or click Share under People & agents. After the session, use Share on the end-of-session sheet.
  2. Under Share session, choose Reader or Collaborator.
  3. Click Copy link, then send the link.
The share popover explains: This link doesn’t add anyone to your project or give access to its other sessions and files. People can use a Collaborator link in the Chief desktop app without joining the session’s Project. Collaborators can add captures and work in shared documents, but they cannot start Chief tasks, send the session to an AI agent, or add documents to the Project Library.

Share one part of a session

  1. In the desktop app, open the part you want to share, such as Transcript, Workspace notes, To-dos, or a tagged view such as Decisions.
  2. Open the ⋯ menu on that panel’s tab strip and choose Share….
  3. If the panel group contains more than one shareable part, use What to share to choose among the tabs in that group. The Workspace group can also offer Notes and documents.
  4. Click Copy link, then send the link.
A link to one part is always Reader-only. It opens in a browser and shows only that part, updating live while the session runs. The Share button on the end-of-session sheet continues to share the whole session.

Share an Activity item

Every insight, finding, offer, ask, or chat in Activity has its own link:
  1. In the desktop app, find the item in Activity.
  2. Open its ⋯ menu and choose Copy link. The same menu also offers Copy and Download for that item.
  3. Send the link to another member of the Project.
The link opens Chief or the web session directly at that item and highlights it. For an ended session, it also moves the transcript to the item’s time. An Activity-item link is not a public Reader link. The person opening it must be a member of the Project that owns the session. Readers follow the session in a browser. Their microphone, system audio, and screen context are not recorded. They do not need a Chief account or Project access.
⚠️ Important: Anyone with the whole-session link receives the access level currently selected for it. A link to one part shows only that part and is always Reader-only. An Activity-item link works only for Project members. Share each link only with people who should see that content.
To stop access, open the share popover and click Turn off link. Chief confirms that previously shared links no longer work without deleting the Live Session. Each shared part has its own link, so turning off one link does not affect the others.

Join with a Session ID

  1. Open the Chief Live Sessions App.
  2. On Home, click Join a session.
  3. Paste the 20-character Session ID into Link or session ID.
  4. Click Join.
Chief also accepts a Session ID written with the optional session_ prefix. You still need access to the Project that owns the session.
  1. Open the Chief Live Sessions App and click Join a session on Home.
  2. Paste the join link or share link into Link or session ID.
  3. Click Join.
A Collaborator link opens the app with session-scoped access. A Reader link opens the browser view. If the app cannot open a shared link, click Open it in the browser instead. The browser view for a whole-session link shows Shared Live Session, the title and Live badge, the transcript, Live notes, and a Documents tab when shared documents exist. A link to one part shows only that part. The browser view also offers Open in Chief app and, when content is available, Download agent .md. A revoked link shows This live session link isn’t valid.
