Find your way around in 60 seconds

Chief has three main areas: the navigation sidebar on the left, the prompt bar in the center, and the home screen around it. Here’s what each one does.

The navigation sidebar

Chief - the navigation sidebar with project and Library links The sidebar runs down the left edge and provides the main navigation. From top to bottom it includes:
  • Search — a “Search tasks…” box to find past conversations.
  • Projectsswitch between Projects or create one with New Project.
  • New task — start a fresh conversation (keyboard shortcut Opt + Shift + N).
  • Tasks — all your conversations.
  • Library — your uploaded Files, with Labels and Collections nested inside.
  • Concepts — topics Chief continually monitors across your Files.
  • Skills — specific abilities you can invoke in a task.
  • Expert Voices — response styles that make Chief answer as a subject-matter expert.
  • Actions — automations that run on a schedule or when new data arrives.
  • Live Sessions — meeting capture (powered by the desktop app).
Good to Know: Some items — like Concepts and Collections — only appear when you’re in Advanced mode. You can switch between Regular and Advanced under Settings → General (the “User Mode:” setting).

The prompt bar

Chief - the prompt bar with Voice, Skills, Intelligence, Files, and Public Data controls The prompt bar in the center is where you talk to Chief. Its Voice, Skills, Intelligence, Files, and Public Data chips configure the response. The + button opens commands for uploading files, adding context, using Saved Prompts, and customizing Chief.

The home screen

Chief - the project home screen with its title, description, credits, and prompt bar When you open a Project, the home screen shows its name, description, credit balance, and the prompt bar with “What can I help you accomplish?” Type / in the prompt bar to open Chief templates and Saved Prompts.
Pro-Tip: Open the account menu (your avatar at the bottom-left of the sidebar) for quick links like Get Help, Latest Changes (the changelog), Settings, and Billing.
