Add files to your Library

Upload a file

- Open the project whose Library you want to add to.
- Drag your files onto the page, or use the upload control to open your computer’s file picker.
- Select one or more files and confirm. The file picker accepts multiple files at once.
- Watch the upload progress panel. Each file shows its name and a live status as it uploads and then processes.
- When a file shows Uploaded. Ready…, it is fully processed and ready to use in chat.
Which file types are supported
Chief accepts essentially any file type. The uploader does not restrict you to a fixed list; instead, your file is checked after it is sent. If a particular file cannot be processed, Chief tells you with a clear error rather than blocking the upload up front. Common documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, images, and audio all work. A file with the same contents is already in your Library. Chief skips it so you do not get duplicates. You can use the existing file in chat from the same notice.

Open the file to see why it failed. The most common causes are an unsupported file type or running out of credits to process it. Fix the cause, then re-upload the file or use the try-again action.
