Connect Google Drive

Connecting your Google account gives Chief Drive tools inside your tasks: it can search your Drive, list a folder, read a file, and — with your approval — create and edit documents. Syncing Drive files and folders into a Project’s knowledge is a separate, organization-wide setup that an owner configures in the Google Workspace admin guide.

Steps

There is no Drive card in your personal settings. You connect from a task, the same way as for Gmail and Google Calendar:
  1. Ask Chief something that needs your Drive. If your Google account isn’t connected yet, Chief shows a Connect Google card.
  2. Click Connect Google.
  3. Sign in to Google and approve the requested access. If Chief later needs an additional permission, the card asks you to reconnect Google and lists the Missing access: — click Connect Google again to grant it.
  4. Return to Chief after Google redirects you back, then repeat your request.

What Chief can do once connected

  • Search your Drive, list the contents of a folder, and read a file to answer your question or use it as context alongside your Library.
  • Create and edit documents. Writes show a confirmation card first unless you turn on Create & edit documents in the tools panel — see managing integration permissions.

FAQ

Confirm that pop-ups and redirects are allowed, then try Connect Google again. If Chief shows missing access, reconnect and approve the requested Google permissions.
That’s an organization-level setting, not a personal one. An organization owner sets up Google Workspace once, deploys it to the Project, and selects Edit Drive content to choose the files and folders it syncs. See the Google Workspace admin guide.
Yes. An organization owner can set up the Google Workspace integration once so Drive (along with Gmail and Calendar) works across the org. See the Google Workspace admin guide.
