Symptoms
- A Live Session opens but shows No transcript yet.
- An audio recording failed: “An error occurred while recording. Please try again.”
- You see No microphone found or Microphone access was denied.
- A transcript you uploaded does not appear in the Live Sessions App.
Likely causes
- The Live Session needs the Chief app — Live Sessions are captured by the desktop app, not the web console.
- Your browser or system blocked microphone access.
- No working microphone was connected.
- The transcript file was not uploaded or did not finish processing.
Solution
Option A — Empty Live Session (“No transcript yet”).- Live Sessions are captured by the Chief app. From the Live Sessions view, click Download the app if you haven’t installed it.
- Start the session from the app so it can listen to the meeting and build the transcript. A session captured this way fills in Summary, Decisions, and Action items automatically.
- If you saw Microphone access was denied, allow microphone access in your browser settings (site permissions or the lock icon in the address bar), then start the recording again.
- If you saw No microphone found, connect a microphone, then click the microphone to start recording again.
- For a generic recording error, click try again and re-record.
- In the Live Sessions App, choose Upload Transcript and select the transcript file again.
- Keep the app open while Chief processes the file. The new Live Session appears after processing finishes.
Still stuck?
If a session was captured by the app but still shows no transcript, or an uploaded transcript never appears, email support@chief.bot with the session name and meeting date.FAQ
The session recorded but the transcript is blank.
The session recorded but the transcript is blank.
A blank transcript usually means no audio reached the app — check that the right microphone and system audio source were active during the meeting. If audio was captured but the transcript is still empty, contact support with the session details.

Can I record a meeting from the web app instead of the app?
Live Sessions that listen to a meeting are captured by the Chief app. The web app supports audio recordings you start yourself, but for automatic meeting capture, decisions, and action items, use the app.

Download the transcript file from Zoom, then upload it in the Chief Live Sessions App. Chief no longer connects directly to Zoom or automatically imports its transcripts and chat logs.
