Chief organizes your work around a handful of building blocks. Knowing what each one means makes everything else faster. Here’s the short version. Chief - the project home navigation with the Concepts entry

The glossary

  • Projects — shared workspaces that hold Files, tasks, and members. The unit you collaborate in.
  • Tasks (task threads) — your conversations with Chief.
  • Library — where you upload documents, data, and other files to reference in your tasks.
  • Files — the individual documents in your Library.
  • Labels — tags you apply to Files to organize them.
  • Collections — let you create sophisticated “fences” around your data using boolean and/or filtering of Labels.
  • Concepts — topics you define; Chief continually monitors your Files to surface the parts most relevant to each one.
  • Skills — specific abilities. Mention a Skill in your task to invoke that ability.
  • Expert Voices — customize how Chief responds, so it thinks and responds as a subject-matter expert.
  • Actions — automatically trigger a task response on a schedule or whenever new data is added to a task’s scope.
  • Memories — persistent notes that help Chief personalize its responses to you.
  • Live Sessions — capture meetings with the Live Sessions App, recording decisions and follow-ups.
  • Command Center — the hub behind the + button in the prompt bar for uploads, settings, and more.
  • Advanced Mode — a user-mode setting that reveals extra capabilities like Concepts and Collections.
  • Agents — specialized intelligence workers Chief spins up to get larger jobs done.
Several of these are also things you can drive from code, not just from the app — Tasks, Files, Labels, and Actions each have API endpoints behind them. Build on Chief is the developer side of the same vocabulary.
Good to Know: Chief also has intelligence levels: Automatic, Fast, Expert, and Deep Intelligence. Automatic can route to any of the other three based on complexity; Deep Intelligence deploys a fleet of long-running agents and requires a paid subscription.
