Chief offers two distinct ways to share part of a task. A prompt link starts a new task with that prompt, while an answer, section, or text-block link opens the existing thread and scrolls to the part you selected.

Share a prompt as a new task

  1. Find the prompt you want to share in the task.
  2. Hover over the prompt and select the link icon (tooltip: “Share task and highlight this prompt”). The Share Task dialog opens.
  3. If the task is not shared yet, select Create secret link. Once the link is active, the dialog shows Also available: Get a link for this specific prompt.
  4. Select the copy button beside the prompt link, then send that link to the recipient.
  5. When the recipient opens the prompt link, Chief starts a new task and submits that prompt. The link does not open the original conversation.
ℹ️ Good to know: The prompt-link option appears only after the original task has an active secret link. Activating that secret link makes the original thread shareable too, even though the separate prompt link does not expose it. Revoke the thread link if you do not want the conversation to remain shareable.

Share a single answer

⚠️ Important: Sharing a single answer, section, or text block shares the entire task thread. The link is a secret link to the whole conversation that simply scrolls to the part you chose. Anyone you send it to can scroll up and down and read everything in the thread, not just the linked section or highlighted passage.
  1. Find the answer you want to share in the task.
  2. Select the Share task button on that answer (tooltip: “Create a secret link to share the entire task”). The Share Task dialog opens, noting that the page will scroll to this answer.
  3. If the task is not shared yet, select Create secret link. The link is created and copied to your clipboard.
  4. Paste the link to share it. When someone opens it, the page scrolls to the answer you chose.

Share a section

  1. In a completed answer, find the section heading you want to share.
  2. Hover over the heading and select the link icon (tooltip: “Create a secret link to this section”). The Share Task dialog opens.
  3. Chief creates the secret link if needed and copies a link anchored to that section.
  4. Paste the link to share it. When someone opens it, the shared page scrolls to and highlights the section.

Copy an outline of every section

Use Copy all headers: when you want to paste a linked outline of a long answer into an email, message, or document.
  1. Open the task and make sure the last completed answer contains at least one heading.
  2. Open the task-level Share Task dialog. If the task is not shared yet, select Create secret link.
  3. Find Copy all headers:. The preview shows the task title followed by every heading in the last completed answer, indented to reflect the answer’s section hierarchy.
  4. Select the copy button beside the preview. Chief confirms with Headers copied to clipboard.
  5. Paste the outline. The task title links to the shared task, and each heading links directly to its section.
The option appears only when you open Share from the task currently on screen and its last completed answer has at least one heading. It does not appear when you share a different task from the sidebar or when the answer has no headings.

Share a highlighted passage (text block)

  1. Select the text you want to point to inside an answer. The text menu appears.
  2. Choose Share from the menu (tooltip: “Share task and highlight selected text”). The Share Task dialog opens with a Share text block section showing your selected text.
  3. Create the secret link if needed, then select the copy button next to the text block. Chief copies a clickable link wrapped around your highlighted text, ready to paste into an email or document.
  4. When a recipient opens it, the shared page scrolls to and highlights that passage.

FAQ

Yes. Answer, section, and text-block sharing all use a secret link to the full thread; the anchor or highlight only controls where the page scrolls. If the rest of the conversation is sensitive, do not share from it — start a fresh task with only the content you want to share, then share that.
The scroll-to-text feature depends on the passage still being present in the thread. If the answer was edited or regenerated after you shared, the highlight may no longer match. Re-share from the current version of the answer.
