Your plan isn’t locked in. You can upgrade to unlock more credits and capabilities, switch between monthly and yearly billing, or cancel — and the changes flow through automatically.

Upgrade from Explore to a paid plan

  1. Open the pricing page. If you own an Organization, you can also choose Billing from the account menu and select Upgrade.
  2. In the Go Pro or Power User column, choose your billing period with the monthly / yearly toggle. New Pro subscriptions cost $49/month** or **$490/year. Existing Pro v1 subscriptions keep their earlier price until they change plans.
  3. Select Subscribe.
  4. Complete checkout in Stripe. When you return, Chief confirms the upgrade and your new plan and credits appear shortly after.

Upgrade from Pro to Power User

If you pay for your Organization’s Pro subscription, you can move to Power User without leaving Chief.
  1. Choose Billing from the account menu.
  2. On the Current plan card, select Upgrade to Power User.
  3. Review what you’ll pay today and how many credits you get now. The charge is prorated for the rest of your current billing period.
  4. Select Upgrade and pay (the button shows the amount) to confirm. Your saved card is charged and your plan switches straight away.
From your next renewal, you’re billed the Power User price and receive Power User’s full credit allowance.
ℹ️ Good to know: Plan changes are confirmed by a Stripe webhook that can trail the redirect. Chief polls your account when you return and flips the plan label and feature access automatically within a few seconds — no manual refresh needed.

Change billing period, downgrade, or cancel

Once you’re on a paid plan, all of these happen in the secure Stripe billing portal.
  1. If you own an Organization, choose Billing from the account menu and select Manage plan. You can also select Manage Subscription on the pricing page.
  2. You’re taken to the Stripe billing portal.
  3. From there you can change billing periods, update your subscription, or cancel it. Confirm your change in the portal.
  4. Return to Chief when you’re done.

FAQ

Subscription management is only available to the person who can manage billing for the plan. If your access is limited, Manage plan doesn’t appear on the Billing page, and Manage Subscription on the pricing page is greyed out. Reach out to support to make changes. Organizations on a custom plan see a Contact support button on the Billing page instead.
Only the Organization Owner who pays for the Pro subscription sees the button. If you do see it but Chief says “This organization can’t upgrade to Power User here. Contact support to change your plan.”, reach out to support.
Chief shows “Failed to open billing portal. Please try again later.” if the portal session can’t be created. Wait a moment and select Manage plan again; if it keeps failing, contact support.
